The Lorain County Solid Waste Management District has been successful in being awarded multiple grants from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA). As a result, the District will be hosting an Agricultural Tire Collection Event on Thursday, September 14, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Personnel with loading equipment will be in the south-west side of the parking lot of the Lorain County Collection Center, located at 540 South Abbe Road in Elyria, OH.
Participants MUST pre-register for this event PRIOR to Friday, September 8, 2023, by calling the District at 440-329-5440.
As a condition of the OEPA Tire Amnesty Grant, there is a required cost to participate in the Agricultural Tire Collection Event. This cost is $0.50 per tire. The ONLY method of payment is a check made out to the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District.
When calling, residents will need to advise what size and quantity of tires they want to bring. Sizes are broken down into 3 categories: 22 inches to 36 inches, 37 inches to 60 inches and 61 inches or larger. This is measured from edge to edge of the tire, not rim size.
On the day of the event, participants will be asked to present a driver’s license in order to verify proof of residency within Lorain County.
Dealers and agri-businesses will NOT be permitted to participate.
This will be the eleventh Agricultural Tire Collection Event that the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District has hosted and performed since 2010.
