10/4/2017 update to LCJFS operations during the strike
To keep Lorain County taxpayers informed about the services of LCDJFS during the strike, here is the latest update:
*The Phone System is now 100% operational.
*Public Assistance Desk served 440 Clients (Oct. 2nd and 3rd)
*Wait times average 50-75 minutes, unless reinstatements are performed on the spot at a service window.We continue to monitor wait times.
*Food Assistance continues to perform better than predicted. The number one category is Food Stamps & Medicaid combined applications.Emergency Cases are a priority and being handled at the local level.The state and the Ohio Director of Medicaid have been extremely helpful to the agency so that clients are not disadvantaged during the strike.
*CSEA is working all alerts for enforcement of child and spousal support, and CSEA is undertaking enforcement actions where necessary.Data entry is current with assistance of non-data staff inputting orders received from the court. CSEA Fiscal is also receiving assistance from non-fiscal staff to make payment adjustments and release impounded funds.
*Childcare (vouchers) is current with new applications.New babies being added to existing Medicaid cases and reinstatement of benefits are two priority areas.
*The JFS staff reporting for work remains strong and determined to serve the clientele and community.
