Commissioners Showcase Bronze SWANA Award
The Lorain County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce that the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District (LCSWMD) has been awarded the 2013 “Bronze Excellence Award” from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), an organization of which the District is a member.
The LCSWMD nominated its Collection Center (located at 540 South Abbe Rd. in Elyria, Ohio) for the “Special Waste” category. The facility opened its doors to Lorain County residents and businesses in June 2010. Since then, it has had a steady stream of patrons of over 10,000 vehicles through its door each year.

Contractor RRP Training
The Board of Commissioners in partnership with the Council on Appalachian Development hosted two days of free training for contractors to be able to get their employees certified in Lead Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP). This certification is required for contractors workers that work on structures with Lead Based Paint and is needed to be able to perform work in local housing programs such as the County’s CHIP Program.
