Our lab gives support to courts, law enforcement, and recovery programs who are on the front lines of the drug epidemic. We are dedicated to following local and national drug abuse trends to inform the public of potential hazards.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Lorain County Crime/Drug Lab has introduced rules for the safety of our staff and our clients.
Urine Drug Screening The lab will only test clients who are scheduled by their officer, caseworker, or by court order. Do not bring friends or family members with you to the lab. Small children and infants will be allowed, older children may be asked to remain outside the lab. A mask or face covering is recommended. You will be given one chance to provide a urine sample.
Fingerprinting Fingerprints are taken by court order only. Call 440-328-2220 between 8am and 4pm M-F to make an appointment.
If you are more than 15 min late, your appointment will be canceled and you will need to reschedule. Juveniles (under 18) may bring one parent or guardian for identification purposes. Adults may not have family or friends with them in the laboratory. A mask or face covering is recommended. Please bring photo ID (juveniles may be identified by a parent or guardian with Photo ID).
The following services of the Lorain County Drug/Crime Lab are provided to County-wide agencies, County and municipal courts, treatment facilities, and law enforcement agencies..
LiveScan Fingerprinting- uses LiveScan technology to capture fingerprints for defendant's in the criminal justice system. These prints are electronically submitted to the State. This eliminates the messy ink and paper system and saves on paperwork and postage for the criminal justice system.
Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) - This instrument is used for forensic chemical analysis. We are able to analyze powders, capsules, tablets, and unknown substances that are suspected of being dangerous controlled substances.
Legal Blood/Urine Alcohol Permit Holder - given by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) for use in OVI/DUI investigations. This permit allows the staff to testify in court as to the amount of alcohol in a defendant's blood or urine.
Urine Drug Test Screens- offered to all agencies in Lorain County who monitor clients for drug abuse including drug courts, recovery programs, and probation
