ABOUT LORAIN COUNTY'S REGIONAL AIRPORT
The LCRA, or the Lorain County Regional Airport, is a department of the Board of Commissioners and receives local operating funding exclusively from user fees.
The Lorain County Regional Airport's mission is to serve as a safe and reliable general aviation-reliever airport, while at the same time providing a level of aeronautical services commensurate with the needs of the flying public.
These activities must be framed within the context of the Airport’s ability to sustain itself financially. It is by these means that the Airport can continue to attract economic development and serve the citizens of our area.
AIRPORT BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The airport is situated on approximately 1,120 acres near the Center of Lorain County in New Russia Township. An Industrial Park encompassing approximately 150 acres adjacent to the airport has all utility services available on site, including electric sanitary sewer, natural gas and safe potable water. The availability and capacity for these utilities is readily available to meet any needs of your development.
Airport Runway #07/25, or 7-25, is approximately 5,000 ft. in length and is 100 ft. wide, with a full Instrument Landing System (Airport Facility Data). Providing AvFuel, maintenance and other pilot and aircraft amenities, MRK Aviation, Inc. is the airport’s full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and is currently managing the airport on behalf of Lorain County.
Local, State, and FAA (The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration) funding have provided for an FAA approved Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan, improvements to the airport's runway safety areas, new and improved navigational aids, and infrastructure improvements to the airport's Industrial Park.
Improvements since 2004 have also included runway rehabilitation and overlay, the addition of a 10 ft perimeter fence, overlay and extension of the airport tarmac, addition of a deicing facility, improvements to the airport lighting system, the purchase of new snow removal equipment and the pavement marking and crack sealing of Runway 7-25.
MRK Aviation, Inc. has also earmarked improvements to the FBO facilities. In 2006 the Board of Commissioners also authorized the construction and sale of private condominium hangars to promote expansion of the tenant base at the airport. These combined improvements will greatly enhance the Lorain County Regional Airport for its users, tenants, and the citizens and businesses in Lorain County for many years to come.
