Transit Mask Mandate
On January 29, 2021 an Executive Order was issued requiring masks to be worn on all modes of transportation including public transportation. The order goes into effect at 11:59 pm EST on February 1, 2021 and requires the public to wear face masks while boarding, riding and waiting for public transit. The mask must cover the nose and mouth of the wearer at all times. The order emphasizes the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily via respiratory droplets and that wearing masks prevent infected individuals from spreading the disease. The CDC's Order focuses on transit because it brings people in close contact with one another.
