Lorain County Workforce Development Agency (WDA)
There are 10 Program elements available to youth through WIA, which include:
- Tutoring, study skills training
- Paid/Unpaid Work Experiences, Internships
- Summer Work Experience
- Mentoring Experience
- Leadership Development
- Occupational Skills Training
- Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
- Alternative secondary school offerings
- Supportive Services
- Follow-up Services
- Soft Skills/Positive Social Behaviors Training
Eligibility Requirements
- Youth ages 14-21
- Must meet requirements as defined by WIA
- Must meet Federal Income standards:
Family of 1 - $10,210 per year
Family of 2 - $13,690 per year
Family of 3 - $18,730 per year
Family of 4 - $23,120 per year
Family of 5 - $27,290 per year
Family of 6 - $31,910 per year*
* For families of more than 6 people, add $4,620 for each additional family member. Individuals 18-21 years of age may qualify as a family of 1 if their income exceeds $3,200 per year.
Verification Requirements
The following documentation is required for the application process...
- Birth Certificate
- Signed Social Security Card
- Valid Drivers License, State ID, or Current School Record (if under 18 years of age)
- All household family income from the last six (6) months: at least three (3) pay-stubs or statement from employer is acceptable
- Individual Educational Plan (IEP) or 504 Modification Plan if applicable. (*applicants with these items may not be subject to income guidelines)
The application process consists of:
- Completion of the TABR Assessment Test
- Males 18-21 years of age must also register with the Selective Services
- Completion of the entire application
- Participants under 18 years of age must have the permission of their parent/legal guardian to enroll; the parent/legal gaurdian must also be present at the time of filing the application.
