Dog Warden for Kennel
Jack Szlempa

Jack SzlempaJack has been employed with the Lorain County Commissioners as Dog Warden since May of 2005.

An Ohio native, Jack graduated from Elyria Catholic High in 1977 and attended LCCC after graduation.

Prior to coming to work for Lorain County, Jack worked in the manufacturing sector for twenty years serving as one of the Executive Management staff and the Director of Quality Assurance.

In his spare time Jack is an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

Jack is married to Molly and they have two grown children, John Jr. is a chef, graduating from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. Kathryn (Katie) is currently studying Early Childhood Education under the Ashland College program at LCCC.

The Lorain County Dog Kennel is mandated service and is operated under the Board of County Commissioners. The Kennel houses stray and unwanted dogs and provides pick up services for owner surrender dogs. The officers for the Lorain County Dog Kennel cover eighteen townships and one major city.

The Dog Kennel encourages the mandatory licensing of dogs and enforce the confinement laws as required in the Ohio Revised Code.

They offer the strays for adoption for a nominal fee including the license after the dog has the dog has remained with us for a period of three working days.
