Director of Solid Waste Management District
Dan Billman
 Dan Billman has been director of the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District since 1999. Mr. Billman’s responsibilities include overseeing all District programs and collection events and managing a staff of seven people. He also creates a budget for the District each year and makes sure that it is followed.
In addition, Dan is responsible for filing a report with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency once a year. Prior to coming to work for the Lorain County Commissioners - Dan spent over 30 years in the automotive industry as a President and General Manager of Elyria Auto Service as well as President of J&J Trucking & Salvage – a major metals recycling yard in Lorain County.
As the Solid Waste Director, Mr. Billman is affiliated and associated with many different organizations and attends meetings across the state to represent the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District. Dan has served on many of the boards of the organizations he has been affiliated with including serving as the chairman for several of them. Dan Billman is also a 1988 graduate of Leadership Lorain County. In 2009, Mr. Billman as the Director of Lorain County Solid Waste Management District was awarded a plaque for Innovator of the Year in the State of Ohio by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
Mr. Billman is a life-long resident of the city of Elyria where he lives with his wife of 30 years, Carol. Dan has two adult children and 6 grandchildren.
