Director of Maintenance
Dennis Shawver
 Dennis Shawver has been serving as the Director of the Lorain County Maintenance Department since April of 2005. Dennis is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep on all of the properties owned by the Lorain County Commissioners. As Director of Maintenance, he is responsible for construction, electrical, HVAC (Heating / Cooling), upkeep of all grounds, repairs, snow removal and all other general maintenance for over 20 county owned properties. Director Shawver supervises the Lorain County Commissioners maintenance crew as well as the custodial staff.
Mr. Shawver is a level one certified building operator, as recommended by the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and the Ohio Public Facilities Maintenance Association. This certification awards individuals who demonstrate knowledge and competency in the energy efficient operation and maintenance of building and equipment. He also holds a class 1 wastewater certification, licensed by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Before coming to work for the Lorain County Commissioners – Dennis Shawver worked over 20 years as a Millwright for the City of Lorain. Dennis was in a crew of three people who handled all of the construction, repairs, and other general maintenance as well as repaired motors, pumps and other equipment at the wastewater treatment facility for the city of Lorain. This gave him considerable knowledge and experience which has served him well as the Director of Maintenance. Mr. Shawver’s strong work ethic and knowledge come from working along side his father in the construction field starting at a young age.
Dennis Shawver is a lifelong resident of Lorain County, graduating from Lorain Admiral King High School. Dennis and his wife Karen, currently reside in the City of Lorain with their two sons, Cory and Kyle.
