The Lorain County Board of Commissioners and the Solid Waste Management District are pleased to announce the District's involvement with Lorain County Community College, RET-3 Job Corp and Connect Your Community in a new national program. The program offers free refurbished computers to qualified applicants within Lorain County. It funded through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.
The applicant must complete an approximately 25 hour free computer course which offers basic computer and internet instruction. The purpose of the class offers individuals an opportunity to get life skills on the computer, instruction on high speed internet and how to do basic research on the internet. Upon completion, the individual can get their free desktop computer.
These classes are offered at the LCGP Distance Learning Center during specific times. They are currently offered Mon. and Wed. from 9-12 am, and from 1-4 pm as well as Tues. and Thurs. from 2-5 pm. For more information, please call (440) 366-7292 or fax (440) 366-4881.
FREE! GED ABLE Consortium Classes
If you would like help preparing for the GED test, you can take FREE GED Classes. The Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) Consortium offers classes to adults free of charge, and are available in both day and evening sessions. GED instruction is offered throughout Lorain County and has 22 classes for student placement. Every effort will be made to place a student in a class convenient to their location/needs.
