Cigarette Litter Prevention Program

CLPP Header

Keep Lorain County Beautiful is pleased to present the Lorain County Cigarette Litter Prevention Program! Cigarette waste products are a big problem, the number one most littered item to be exact! In an effort to help combat this problem Keep America Beautiful put together a grant program that affiliates can apply for and use the money to create meaningful solutions in their area. Keep Lorain County Beautiful was a recipient of the 2019 Cigarette Litter Prevention Program (CLPP) grant and we got right to work accomplishing our goals of raising public awareness, placing multiple standalone and mounted ash receptacles in public spaces and handing out 600 personal portable ashtrays to smokers.

Keep Lorain County Beautiful has once again obtained the CLPP grant for 2021 –2022 and is getting to work to implement a program that will have an even wider reach.

The Keep Lorain County Beautiful - Cigarette Litter Prevention Task Force has accomplished:

  • Raising public awareness about cigarette litter through advertising and social media
  • Ordered multiple mounted ash receptacles and standalone ash receptacles to be placed in three pilot study areas (see below for locations)
  • Handed out 600 personal portable and auto ashtrays to smokers who can use them
